It appears an embargo on an Elden Ring preview event just lifted, allowing select outlets to share their initial thoughts based on 15 minutes of gameplay footage. Unfortunately, press haven't been allowed to actually share it publicly, but what we do have access to are some brand new screenshots. We've embedded as many as we can find below.
The previews in question have also uncovered some new Elden Ring details, including the ability to fast travel from absolutely anywhere on the map, lots of optional encounters, multiple paths and endings to the game, and lots of lore to go alongside them. If you choose to be an archer or magician, you'll still be able to fight from horseback. Finally, there are mentions of legacy dungeons that are separate from the actual overworld. There's also a map, which is always nice.

These screenshots look glorious. That dragon, I'm in a meeting in work and that's all I can focus on.
But, I might skip the other articles that go in depth on mechanics etc. I remember playing the original Dark Souls for the first time knowing nothing about it. That's the way to do it for me.
Wow. Those are all screenshots? Some of those just straight-up look like concept art.
Glad I read the Eurogamer article. There's a map! A really good map system, too, by the sound of it.
I was fully prepared to ignore this game, but I... might actually be getting it. I've wanted to give FromSoftware another chance, anyway.
The fact there’s a map means I’ve gone from relatively bored to somewhat interested.
FromSoft is a relatively safe bet, still, not sure if there is an actual reason to pre-order. But definite buy.
@nessisonett I'm a big fan of maps, you can watch me lose my mind over it on this article, but I skipped the Dark Souls game do to difficulty. And at this point we're more likely to get Pikmin 4 than an easy mode in 1 of these games.

@Ralizah I thought they were concept art until I read your comment. So I went back and looked at them again. And they still look like concept art. So now I'm wondering if they are game play or cg graphics or in engine cut scenes. Guessing a new trailer will drop soon. Just went back and watched the June trailer, does kind of look like this. Screen shots are PC according to a Keighley tweet, so considering what a high end PC can pull off these days I suppose they can be legit gameplay.
Watching the trailer made me wish CDPR made Witcher 4 instead of Cyberpunk. I don't play first person or difficult games, my choices are limited.
From Software blows the competition out of the water xD
I'm really not sure how I feel about the addition of a map. It's not something I ever missed in Demon's or Dark Souls. In fact, it's somewhat more fun without one. By the sounds of it though Elden Ring's levels will be a lot more complex, so perhaps a map system will be a welcome addition.
@Hobbesyall Have you seen the Black Myth UE5 trailer? Because if that’s the competition from has work to do.
Also From always always releases games with frame pacing issues.
From Software has become one of my fav developers (Sekiro sealed it for me).
Fine with a map and fast travel. Sometimes I just do not have the time to be wondering around aimlessly
This looks amazing. Day 1
This will be great don’t even need to see more. Something tells me this ends up being the most accessible game they’ve made too.
Despite being initially underwhelmed by the trailer, the more I read about it the more I start unintentionally dribbling over my keyboard. I think this will be a culmination of everything From has done thus far... and more!
@Mega-Gazz yes I’ve seen it and the combat wasn’t as clean as In FS games for me Sekiro has the best combat I’ve ever seen in a game ! Let’s se what elden ring will offer us, but from this images I gotta say I love what I see here
@Ralizah what was the first chance you gave them out of curiosity?
@mcdreamer agreed. Not having a map just adds to the playful anxiety. Never bugged me and forced my brain to work a bit harder.
Talk about overhyped.
I refuse to look! Please stop putting images of the game in thumbnails, especially enemies and bosses, pretty please.
N.i.c.e. im Playing sekiro right now.from software are masters of theyre own craft.cant wait for elden ring.word up son
@MasterEMFG Bloodborne for 30-some hours. Dark Souls for less.
@Ralizah the soulsborne games brutalized me at first. My dexterity isn’t that great for them. Not sure what it was for you, but what finally changed things for me was Bloodborne.
I found that I had to level up a bit more to somewhere overpower my character for the next area I’d go into. Initially I had always just tried to progress through the games to fast.
This allowed me to make a mistake from time to time and not die right away. Granted they were still hard but after I figured that out with Bloodborne I was able to go back and tackle the other Souls games and Sekiro more easily.
My two cents… for money you might not be asking for
@MasterEMFG I didn't find them to be overly challenging or anything. The combat was quite fun, and I did feel very empowered when I first grokked the combat and went from dying constantly to being able to wipe every enemy I came across. I think they're decent action games.
For me, it was a combination of things:
I'm still not sure I'll like Elden Ring, but I've wanted to give this style of game one more chance, and ER being a shake-up that also addresses my single biggest issue with their previous games in this style makes it seem like the perfect opportunity to try again.
just wake me up when it comes out.
Screenshots? Uh huh...if you say so
Wait are there like more than one of those big yellow trees, in the shot with that feathered dragon I can make out at least three of them
This game looks amazing cannot wait for the release.
Nice meaty article from Eurogamer. Thank for the link.
Shut up and take my money (c)
I don't need more previews)
Waiting for more gameplay and reviews, but the screenshots do look very promising.
